Leaving the USA

Suppose the worst fears of the extreme Right come true and President Barack Hussein Obama wins a second term. Where can they go to avoid the coming economic collapse and Islamo-Fascist Takeover? Canada is out, with it's gay marriage, gun control and socialized health care. Perhaps the Holy Land of Israel? Then again, Israel also has strict government control of firearms and socialized healthcare. Hebrew and Arabic are the official languages, and the politicians are all, well, Jewish.

Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin recently renounced his US citizenship and moved to Singapore where they don't burden the wealthy with a 15% capital gains tax. Of course Saverin wasn't born in the US, just like President Obama was, according to half of all Republican voters.  It's probably easier for someone who isn't a "full blooded" American to move there.

After serious consideration, I finally chanced upon the perfect country for disgruntled Obama haters. It's a place called Mozambique. I don't know much about it, but just look at the flag...it's got an AK 47 on it! I urge NRA and militia members to book their flights now.

Of course if Obama loses, liberals might want to move elsewhere. I would urge them to look towards the Commonwelath of Massachusetts. The Republican Presidential Candidate has vowed to repeal Obamacare on his first day of office, but just a few years ago the self-described "progressive" governor of Massachusetts signed Obamacare into law, a time when then-Senator Obama was still promoting a public option and was critical of the individual mandate. Around the same time the elitist governor and legislature created a fund to send the top 25% of all high school students to public universities and colleges FOR FREE!  Not only that, but the same governor also signed an assault weapons ban for the state! What a socialist paradise!

Irony Man!

I was perusing the online English version of Pravda-the Russian Communist Party's official "mouthpiece" and saw the most popular article at the time was:

The corruption of America is complete

24.07.2012
By Lord Howard Hurts
http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/24-07-2012/121719-rcoruption_america_obama-0/
What followed was a rant combining the worst of The Weekly World News with World Net Daily, for example:

THE GAME IS RIGGED. We have a Republican candidate for President who is aware of this birth certificate issue and is being pummeled in the press to give up more tax returns so that the Democrats can destroy him by nonsense. And yet this coward, Mitt Romney, refuses to attack this fraud of a President on the birth certificate issue.

Lord Howard Hurts concludes:

And this is why I believe that Allen West is the person that the Republican's should draft as their candidate for President. In the trying times coming only a military man will be able to make the "hard" decisions needed to keep this nation from entering into a destructive civil war. Elect Obama, Romney, or Hillary Clinton, and say hello to: The United States of Socialist America.

So Representative Alan West (R-FL) -who has heard that 80 House Democrats are communists- gets an endorsement in Pravda. Seems familiar.

Supreme Hypocrite

Headline from a story about Justice Scalia's FOX news interview1 day ago...
US Supreme Court not 'political at all': Scalia

and in today's story the Justice who claims the Court is apolitical is quoted as saying:

Of course, I would not like to be replaced by someone who immediately sets about undoing everything that I've tried to do for 25 years, 26 years, sure. I mean, I shouldn't have to tell you that. Unless you think I'm a fool.

So the only way to get the gavel away from the non-partisan Justice  while a Democrat is in office will be to pry it from his cold dead hands.

The highlight of the interview is when Justice Scalia-who claims to be a strict constructionist- suggests that owning rocket launchers is probably a 2nd amendment right since the founders intended all weapons that are hand held to be covered.

The Bane of Romney's Campaign

Rush Limbaugh has uncovered a comic book conspiracy...

The real conspiracy is what happened to Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. The one who signed the assault weapons ban when Congress let the federal ban fade away. The Mitt Romney who didn't think the government should intrude on a woman's choice to end a pregnancy. The governor who proudly supported a free market solution to bringing healthcare to all the citizens of his state, a program many referred to as "Romneycare" until he mysteriously seems to have forgotten all about it. There is the cynical view that Romney has changed what he claims are his core values and principles to simply get the votes needed to gain power and prestige, but that is too far fetched!

Readers of comic books are well aware of such warning signs. The real Mitt Romney may have switched places with a fascistic Mitt Romney from a totalitarian universe, like in several Star Trek series episodes. Why else would Romney seek office as a staunch conservative seeking to undo all the things he did in Massachusetts as a progressive minded moderate Republican just a few years earlier?

Mark Hamill recently speculated that Romney is now some sort of synthetic life form or android, noticing the mechanical quality of Romney's recent statement "Lemon. Wet. Good."
It could mean that Romney is possessed and is being manipulated by a malevolent outside force-perhaps by Christine O'Donnell, who once dabbled in witchcraft in high school. If the current version of Mitt Romney is in fact the original, it could explain his sometimes erratic behavior. Romney may be struggling to break free of the whichcraft that has transformed him into a contradiction of all he once was. How else would you explain remarks like:

I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that's the America millions of Americans believe in. That's the America I love.
I’m not familiar with precisely what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was.

WP Factchecker Taxes My Patience

On July 3rd, @BarackObama tweeted “FACT: In 2010 and 2011, Romney paid less than 15% in taxes on $42.5 million in income—much less than what many middle-class families pay.”

This was too much for Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post's Fact Checker, who gave the President 3 "Pinocchios" for misleading the public. Kessler does not dispute what percentage Romney paid, but rather what percentage a middle class American pays in taxes. Using figures from Kessler's own column, Obama was indeed correct if you are a glass half full kind of person:

Effective Tax Rates (including payroll tax paid by employer)
Bottom 20 percent (0-$17,000):         1 percent
Second 20 Percent ($17,000-$33,500): 7.8 percent
Middle 20 percent ($33,500-59,500): 15.5 percent
Fourth 20 Percent ($59,000-$103,500): 18.7 percent
Top 20 Percent ($103,500+):  24.3 percent
Romney paid an effective rate of 13.9 percent in 2010 and 15.4 percent in 2011, lower than the mid point of 15.5 percent. Kessler does point out that, contrary to most Republican and TEA Party rhetoric, "most Americans pay a relatively small percentage of their income in taxes."  What bothers me is that many million and billionaires pay rates similar to those of the struggling middle class.

Dividing income into quintiles is misleading. Is a household that makes over $60,000 truly upper class? What about $103,501, which gets you into the top 20 percent? Even when he was unemployed, Mitt Romney was able to make $21.7 million in 2010 and $20.9 million in 2011. Romney is clearly in a different social-economic class than a small business owner making a little more than $104,000 a year, but Romney's apologists would prefer you not think of that.  Paying high taxes to get the country out of a crisis is patriotic. Rigging the system so the wealthiest 1/1000th can have tax loopholes is not.
